Perfect Your Smile With Cosmetic Dentistry
What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is made up of procedures that enhance your smile, help to improve your appearance, and boost your self confidence: whitening, reshaping, and straightening of your teeth are examples of cosmetic dentistry.
The main difference between traditional dentistry and cosmetic dentistry is the former addresses issues necessary to treat the overall health and functionality of your mouth, whereas, cosmetic dentistry consists of procedures that aren’t necessary, but are desired.

Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth; nothing looks more natural or lasts longer.
Dental implants consist of three parts:
- A titanium screw that is implanted into your jaw bone, essentially becoming a tooth root. Bone and implant fuse together creating a strong and stable foundation that allows you to eat all your favorite foods.
- An abutment is what connects the implant to the tooth, called a crown.
- The crown is your new tooth. It looks and feels and functions just like a natural tooth. This tooth can improve the aesthetics of your smile and allows you to chew your food properly; this has the added benefit of improving digestion which aids in your overall health.
A tooth root, (the titanium screw), is what keeps your jaw bone strong and healthy and prevents bone loss. Only an implant can mimic a tooth root – dentures and bridges cannot.
4M Dental Implants
The 4M Dental Implant procedure is the gold standard of dental implants. It’s a specialized, high-end dental implant solution for missing or diseased teeth.
4M solves the expensive and time consuming problem of replacing each tooth with a single implant, bridgework and multiple crowns. Using four strategically placed implants, Dr. Sean Mohtashami will secure an entire arch of teeth.
Nothing looks, feels, or functions more like real teeth than 4M Dental Implants.
4M Dental Implant Patients
There are a number of reasons for unhealthy looking teeth: a lifetime of poor hygiene, an illness, gum disease, a genetic predisposition, even certain medicines can cause weakened or discolored teeth.
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure, which, consists of thin porcelain ‘shells’ that are permanently bonded to the fronts of your teeth. With this one procedure you can whiten your teeth, fix chips and cracks, close large gaps, and make teeth appear straighter, and protect yourself from sensitivity due to worn enamel.
With a crown a significant amount of tooth and enamel is lost in preparation, not so with veneers. To prepare a tooth for a veneer approximately a 1/2 millimeter of enamel is removed from the surface of your tooth, which ends up being about the thickness of the veneer.
Keep in mind if you select a shade of tooth that’s lighter than your other teeth you’ll want to have those teeth whitened before receiving your veneers – once they’re on they cannot be replaced.
It takes about 3 visits to complete your veneer procedure:
1st visit – Consultation, exam, and x-ray. At this visit you and your doctor will discuss if veneers are the best option for you and come up with a treatment plan.
2nd visit – Prep your teeth, take impressions, and decide on the ideal shape and color.
3rd visit – Veneers are bonded to your teeth.

With proper care and oral hygiene, veneers can last 7 – 15 years before needing to be replaced.
Dental Crowns and Bridges
Two of the most common cosmetic procedures we offer are dental crowns and bridges. A crown can be used to fix a tooth that has become decayed or damaged due to injury, illness, or normal wear and tear. Sometimes referred to as a “cap,” it simply slips over your tooth to restore its lost functionality and appearance.
If you have a few missing teeth in a row, a bridge can help fill in the gap. It works by attaching a prosthetic (or “pontic”) tooth to crowns on two adjacent teeth to literally bridge the gap between them.
Both restorations are very reliable, and you can usually get them in as little as two visits.
For years, the only way to straighten teeth was with a mouth full of metal. Food would get stuck behind the wires, the metal rubbed the inside of your lips, and your mouth would have a swollen look to it when you’d try to close your lips over the braces. Thankfully, there’s another choice. Invisalign are clear, custom made aligners that give you all the benefits of braces with none of the drawbacks.
Your custom Invisalign aligners are comfortable, easy to wear, and virtually clear so there’s no need to feel self conscious.
Aligners are worn for 20 – 22 hours a day, removing them when you eat or drink.
Each tray is worn for approximately two weeks at which point you’ll start your next tray, this will advance you to the next stage of your treatment. Just as you would with traditional braces, you’ll come in every 6 months or so for a checkup.
Invisalign aligners aren’t just for minor teeth alignment issues, they are suitable for a broad range of cases, for example: spacing issues, over and underbites, or if you had braces when you were younger but your teeth have moved over time.
Brightening Smiles with
Zoom Teeth Whitening
It only takes Zoom whitening an hour to whiten and brighten your smile. Zoom whitening uses an accelerated bleaching process to lighten stains and discoloration on your teeth so your teeth can get up to 8 shades whiter in one office visit.
Smoking, red wine, certain medications, coffee, and aging can all contribute to dark spots on your teeth. Zoom uses a bleaching mixture that penetrates your tooth’s enamel to bleach from the inside out.
Zoom Whitening In-Office Treatment
- Prior to starting, you’ll need to have your teeth cleaned.
- Three 15 minute, same day, sessions.
- Lips and gums are prepped to keep the gel from getting on them, and the gel will remain on your teeth for each 15 minute session.
- Post procedure you can expect heightened sensitivity.
- You’ll receive take home bleaching trays, that have been custom fit to your bite, for touch ups at home to help maintain your new smile for several months.
Zoom Whitening Take Home Kit
- For those of you who prefer the control or a more subtle, gradual change.
- You’re provided with custom shaped bleaching trays and same professional strength bleaching gel.
- Use every night for 30 minutes until you’ve reached your desired shade.
- Cut down the frequency of bleaching if your teeth become too sensitive.
A few common complaints from denture wearers are:
- Their bulkiness. You will get used to this, but they cover quite a bit of area inside your mouth minimizing your ability to taste foods fully.
- Natural suction or adhesives keep dentures in place, but they are notorious for ‘floating‘, shifting around in your mouth.
- Can’t taste foods.
- Constant rubbing on gums becomes painful.
Complete dentures are dental prosthesis that sit on top of your gums and replace all of your teeth. Partial dentures are for patients who have lost several teeth. In both instances they can give back your smile and allow you to speak and eat better. You may notice an improvement in the structure of your face.
Today’s dentures are designed to be comfortable, functional, and look very similar to real teeth.
To maintain healthy gums and clean dentures they must be taken out nightly to clean.
Dental implants replace teeth by surgically implanting a titanium screw into your jaw bone, effectively becoming a tooth root. Without a tooth root your jaw bone will wear down over time.
Time combined with the constant pressure of the denture speeds this up and you will have to have your denture relined or replaced regularly.
Dentures have long been the answer for missing teeth. Today, dental implants have taken the top spot, but dentures are a good option if you’re looking for something less costly and non surgical.
Combining multiple cosmetic dentistry procedures to achieve your ideal smile is known as a smile makeover. During your consultation, you’ll discuss your desired goal and together agree upon a treatment plan that’s right for you.
An example of a smile makeover could be having excess gum removed in order to lengthen the appearance of your teeth, brightening your smile with Zoom whitening, and adjusting their alignment with an Invisalign treatment. For bigger issues, a dental implant might be part of your suggested treatment plan.
